Privacy Policy
BellHop Studios ("we", "us") hosts free fan games at bellhopstudios.com/fan-games, currently Who's in the Brush? (also reachable at whos-in-the-brush.vercel.app) and Who's My Team's Carry? (also reachable at whos-my-teams-carry.vercel.app). This policy covers those fan games. Our own games have their own policies.
The short version
- You can play without giving us anything. Who's in the Brush? games are run on our server so the leaderboard can't be cheated. Who's My Team's Carry? runs entirely in your browser: there's no sign-up or leaderboard, and your games never reach us.
- To join the leaderboard you give us an email address and a name of up to 8 characters. Only the name is shown publicly.
- The suggestion box is optional. A reply email is only needed if you want us to write back.
- We only send you emails about new BellHop Studios games if you tick the box asking for them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- The leaderboard is for players 13 and older.
- We don't sell your information. Who's in the Brush? has no ads, cookies or analytics. Who's My Team's Carry? shows ads from Google, which use cookies; see Ads below. (Our News, Games and Devlog pages show ads too; see the site privacy policy.)
What we collect
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | You join the leaderboard | To keep one leaderboard entry per person, to let you get your entry back on another device, and, only if you opted in, to tell you about new BellHop Studios games |
| Leaderboard name | You join the leaderboard | Shown next to your best score on the public leaderboard |
| Your email choice and age confirmation | You join the leaderboard | A record of whether and when you agreed to emails, and that you confirmed you're 13 or older |
| Game records | Every game you play | The questions asked, guesses, score and times, so the server can run the game and rank scores |
| Suggestions | You send one from the suggestion box | What it's about, the champion if you pick one, your message and, if you give one, a reply email. If you've joined the leaderboard it's linked to your entry. We read them to fix mistakes and improve the games, and only use the reply email to answer you. |
| A scrambled form of your network address | Every game you start or suggestion you send | A one-way code made from your IP address, used only to limit how many games or suggestions one network can send per hour. We don't store the address itself. |
The table is for Who's in the Brush?. Who's My Team's Carry? sends us nothing.
Your browser also keeps a few things in its own storage (not cookies): a random key that keeps you signed in to the leaderboard, the game you're in the middle of, your stats and your settings. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
Ads
Who's My Team's Carry? shows ads through Google AdSense, on the game page at bellhopstudios.com. Who's in the Brush? and the Fan Games page don't.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google asks for your consent before using cookies for ads, and you can change your choice at any time from the privacy link it shows on the page. Where US state law lets you opt out of ads personalization, you can do so the same way or in Google's Ads Settings. If you don't consent, you may still see ads that aren't personalized.
Emails from us
If you tick "Email me about new BellHop Studios games", we may email you about new games and updates. Every email will tell you how to unsubscribe, or you can write to support@bellhopstudios.com. If you don't tick it, we only use your email for the leaderboard.
Who handles the data
- Supabase stores the leaderboard, game records and suggestions and runs the game server, in the United States.
- Vercel hosts the websites.
- Google shows the ads in Who's My Team's Carry? (see Ads).
- If we send emails, an email service provider will handle sending them.
Supabase and Vercel process the data for us and don't use it for their own purposes. Google uses its ad cookies as described in its own policies. We don't share anything with anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your leaderboard entry and email until you ask us to delete them. Games played without joining the leaderboard are deleted after 90 days. We keep suggestions while they help us improve the games, and delete yours if you ask.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to stop emailing you, by writing to support@bellhopstudios.com from the email you joined with. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, California or Canada) you may have further rights, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The leaderboard is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has joined, contact us and we'll delete their entry.
